Gifted & Talented

Gifted and Talented pupils are those who have been identified by teachers as having academic, sporting, musical, artistic or dramatic abilities significantly above average. Such pupils are routinely challenged and stretched at Sacred Heart School by the quality of our teaching and extra-curricular provision. The school has received local and national recognition for the excellence of its provision for the brightest and most able pupils. Among the extra academic opportunities offered to the most gifted pupils are an extensive range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities after school and during the holidays.

Each year pupils identified as Gifted and Talented in each subject at Key Stage 3 and 4 are awarded a badge which they can wear on their blazer that celebrates their talents and gifts. The pupils in each year group who receive G&T nominations from the most subjects are entitled to wear a coveted purple G&T tie. The pupils on our G&T list are reviewed annually to ensure that pupils are making the most of their gifts and talents

In the 6th form the Gifted and Talented programme runs in conjunction with our Oxbridge Programme, which identifies and nurtures our highest achievers and those with the potential to go to top universities.

In 2008, and 2011, the National Association for Able Children in Education (NACE) recognized our excellence of provision for Able, Gifted and Talented pupils by crediting us with the NACE Challenge Award. We were the first inner London school to achieve this award, and only the 25th school in the country to be credited with this highly competitive award. To achieve the award for a second time is most challenging, and only given when schools demonstrate that they have sustained a very high level of provision over the last four years and addressed any development points from their last assessment.

Sacred Heart is a community where the culture of achievement and aspiration is tangible. Gifted students are nurtured and challenged by a team of exceptionally committed and motivated teachers. If you are considering Sacred Heart as a secondary school for your child and you would like to discuss our provision for gifted children, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me using the contact information below.
